Annual General Meeting Minutes

80th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON

20th of NOVEMBER 2009 AT THE E.A.A.

Meeting opened at 20:00.

Apologies from:- Phil Chapman, Steve Domsalla.

Committee present:- Steve Frost, Richard Cowderoy, Keith Erridge, Paul Cox, Dean Riley, Paul King, Paul Hayes, Snowy &

                                        Tony Kirrage.

Club members were present:- Bob Levett, Ian Mason & Ian Hopper

         1.      Minutes of last A.G.M.

The minutes of last years A.G.M. were read out and everybody agreed with them.

              They were signed by Snowy.

         2.      Matters arising from the last minutes.

There were no matters arising from the minutes of the last A.G.M.

     3.      Correspondence.

                   There was no correspondence.

         4.       Notification of any matter that may be brought up.

                   The following notifications were announced;

  1. Notifications of future Nomads A.G.M.'s.

  2. Nomads presentation night.

    5.       The chairman's report.

Snowy Ruffell gave his Chairman's report, he mentioned that because this is the 80th year of the Nomads it would be  a good idea to have a special competition.

6.      The Hon. Treasurer's report.

Richard Cowderoy gave the Treasurers report.

7.      The Hon. Secretary's report.

Steve Frost gave the Hon. Secretary's report, in it was mentioned about the meeting between Steve Frost and Chris Hurst (chairman of the Eastbourne Angling Association).

Chris Hurst mentioned that Nomads members who are not members of the EAA can only drink in the club between Monday and Thursday (unless it's a fishing event), but he has suggested that Nomads members may be able to join the EAA, by paying the difference between the Nomads membership (£10) and the EAA membership (£22), so, for an extra £12, Nomads members may be able to join the EAA, but he did say that this would have to be put before the EAA Committee first.

We poke about the Nomads presentation night. Chris said that we could have a Friday night, we could also have the resident DJ for £30 + extra for any food we want laid on.

I will sort out a date for sometime in March 2010.

8.       The Competition Secretary's report.

Phil Chapman was unable to attend the AGM because of work commitments, so Steve Frost read out the Hon. Competition Secretary's report.

In it Phil thanked Ian Hopper for his help with the weigh-in at Nomads competitions.

He also mentioned that there was 2 non-point competitions coming up.

  1. Phil's fun competition, on Saturday 29th of December, fishing from 7pm till 11pm, at End of the bungalows, £2 entry (heaviest round and heaviest flat).

  2. The officers cup, Sunday 3rd of January 2010, fishing from 10am till 2pm, meet at club car park, this is now open to all Nomads members, but the cup can only be won by a committee member.

             9.        Election of President.

Tony Kirrage was happy to on as Nomads President.

The vote was carried unanimously that Tony stayed on.

10.      Election of Committee.

It was agreed unanimously that the rest of the committee would remain in their current positions.

11.         Election of Auditor.

The vote was carried unanimously that we keep Simon Watkins on as club auditor.

Dean Riley still kept his offer to help Richard Cowderoy with the Accounts.

There was an interval for refreshments.

            12.         Proposals.

                          There were 3 proposals, all from Ian Hopper;

  1. Mackerel are included in the Bass & Species Competitions at a size of 25cm, and 5 points are awarded.

This was seconded by Steve Frost, it was voted in by a majority vote, just 1 vote against.

  1. That in the event of a heaviest round or flat fish not being caught, it is drawn out of a hat, and only paid out to anglers that are present, (this is easily done by having some old scrabble tiles numbered, and then on Phil's list, numbers are already beside the names).

This was seconded by Tony Kirrage, this was voted out, there was only 2 votes for, 6 votes against and 2 abstained.

  1.  A fourth place is paid out when over 25 anglers are fishing (excluding or including juniors, depending on how members feel).

Keith Erridge suggested that we have a fourth place with 20 or more anglers, and a fifth place if there are 25 or more

          anglers.

Ian Hopper then changed his proposal to Keith Erridge's suggestion, this was seconded by Paul King on the condition that

the above numbers were based on adult anglers only, the vote was carried unanimously.

            13.        Election of Festival Committee.

No-one wanted to stand for the Town Festival as it stands.

The only way that the Festival Committee will stand is if the Nomads took over the running of the beach section of the Town Festival.

A letter is to be drafted, and sent off to the Town Festival, stating the above, if all goes through, then the persons listed below will run the beach section.

Keith Erridge

Phil Chapman

Colin Mason

Ian Hopper

The beach section of the Festival will take place on Sunday 24th of October 2010, from 9.30am till 2.30pm.

14.    AOB.

  1. Ian Hopper pointed out that there was a lack of members present at the meeting, because most of them probably didn't know about it, Paul King said that in future it might be a good idea to send notification to all current members.

  2. It was suggested and agreed that the Club pays for the presentation night by putting up £200, £30 for the DJ, and £170 for food. Steve Frost will sort out a date with the EAA.

15.    Subscriptions were taken for 2010 memberships, and bookings were taken for the Christmas open.

Meeting closed at 22:30.
