20th Newsletter – February 2010

NOMADS PRESENTATION EVENING

The presentation of the Nomads Cups & Shields etc, used to take place on the same night as the Nomads A.G.M. This meant that members who were being presented with their Cups had to sit through an A.G.M. that could last for up to 2 hours, this must have been particularly boring for Junior members.

Well, times have changed. As you may, or may not know, the Nomads A.G.M. & Presentation night have now been separated. The A.G.M. now takes place in November, and the Presentation Night takes place in March.

Guess what, the Presentation night is nearly here. It will be held at the E.A.A. on Saturday 20th of March, from about 7pm. As well as the presentation, there will entertainment (a D.J.) & food, and it gets better, it's all FREE, (apart from the drinks, you'll have to pay for them).

So, book a babysitter, and bring your partner, (or, tell ya partner she's babysitting, and bring the babysitter), even if you haven't won a cup, it's a night out.

If you have won anything, you can only take it home if you're a current member.

SEE YOU ON THE 20th

AN ANONYMOUS LETTER

A couple of weeks ago I received an anonymous letter, it went like this;

Dear Steve,

I've never written a letter like this before, It's a bit personal, but because I know you, and you are the Nomads Secretary, I'm asking for your urgent advice.

I have suspected for sometime that my wife has been cheating on me. There are the small tell tale signs - the phone rings, but if I answer it, the caller hangs up, and she has been going out with the girls a lot lately, when I ask who they are, she say's; “Oh, just some friends from work, you don't know them”, also she seems to be buying more clothes, sexy lingerie, and extra make-up and perfumes.

I try to stay awake and look out for her when she comes home, but I usually fall asleep. I have never mentioned anything to her, because deep down, I don't think I want to know the truth. But, last night she went out again, and I had another go at waiting up for her, this time I was successful.

Around midnight, I hid in the garage, behind all my fishing tackle, I had a good view of most of the street, and I'd be able to see when she came home from her night out with the girls. I didn't have to wait long before a silver Mercedes pulled up, my wife got out, buttoned up her blouse, then she took her panties out of her purse and slipped them back on.

It was at this point, crouching behind my “16 foot Sonik SK4 beach rod” that I noticed there was a hairline crack in the top section. Can you tell me, is this something I can fix myself, or should I take it back to where I bought it from.

Yours Sincerely

Anon.

This is my reply

Dear Nomads member,

First of all, because you didn't give your name, or address, this is my only way of replying.

Yes, do take the rod back to the tackle shop you bought it from, they may be able to get it repaired, or they may replace it for you.

Also I would advise not hiding behind your fishing tackle, as you could end up causing more damage.

Lastly, I was getting right into that, and would like to know who was secretly dating your wife, was it someone I know, was it another Nomads Member?????

BAIT

If you have problems getting bait for any reason, then Phil Chapman is our club bait digger, give him a ring, or send him a text on 07870 834197, he'll sort you out.

NOMADS MEMBERS RAFFLE

Most of you will know that I have been selling raffle tickets, they are only on sale to Nomads Members. We are only half way there. And, as I've mentioned before, the draw can't take place until all the tickets have been sold.
1st Prize is a Diawa 7HT Mag (the new blue one)
2nd Prize is The complete Tony's Tackle luggage set.
The tickets are only £1 a strip, and are available at all Nomads Competitions.
