Competition Rules The "Eastbourne Nomads Angling Club" doesn't have a too many rules, but, like any other club, you've got to have rules. Because without rules, all you've got is, chaos. So, here's a copy of the "Eastbourne Nomads Angling Club" rules. 1. Name The Club shall be called The Eastbourne “nomads” Angling Club. 2. Object The object of the club shall be to encourage Beach Angling. 3. Officers The officers of the Club shall consist of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Hon. secretary, hon. Treasurer and Competition Secretaries, who shall be ex-officio members of committees.
4. General Committees The affairs of the club shall be managed by a Committee of eleven elected members (6 Officers and 5 Committee). At the Annual General Meeting the officers and the Committee for the ensuing year shall be elected. Nominations for these must be in writing, and these must be in the hands of the Secretary by 14 days prior to the Annual General Meeting. No member shall vote on any subject wherein he or she is personally interested. A ballot paper of names of officers and Committee duly nominated be included with the Statement of Accounts together with instructions for voting. The Committee shall have power to fill any vacancy that may occur between any Annual Meetings. If no names, or an insufficient number of names of Candidates eligible for election be received by the Hon. Secretary by the date of the Annual General Meeting, candidates may be proposed to fill any vacancy at the Annual General Meeting without previous notice. A ballot to fill the vacancies will be held if necessary. The Committee shall meet at such times as may be found necessary, and they shall have power to make such bye-laws as may, from time to time, be found necessary; due notice of such bye-laws to be posted in the clubs Newsletter. 5. Meetings The Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be in the month of February or March, when the report of the Committee, and the Audited Accounts of the preceding year shall be submitted to the club members for adoption; and general business be transacted. Extraordinary General Meetings may be called at any time by the Committee, by giving at least seven days' notice thereof to each member, or, any 20 members may, by notice in writing to the Secretary, instructing the Committee to call such a meeting, Such notice to be signed by each of the 20 members. No other business than that specified on the Agenda for that meeting to be transacted thereat. 6. Chairman In all voting, should there be an equality of votes, the Chairman shall have the casting vote. The ruling of the Chairman of any meeting, on points of order, shall be final. 7. Minutes The Hon. Secretary shall keep correct Minutes of the proceedings of the Club in a book, which is to be produced at every meeting, when the Minutes of the preceding meeting shall be read and confirmed, and shall then be signed by the Chairman. 8. Subscription The ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION for the members shall be £10 for Adult members, £5 for OAP’s, and £1.00 for junior members, and is due 1st January in each year. A person whose subscription is not paid by 31st March, after due notice, ceases to be a member of the Club. No member shall be allowed to take part in any Club competition until the subscription for the current year be paid. From the 1st October to the end of the year, the ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION for new members shall be One Half. 9. Election Any lady or gentleman over the age of 14 may apply for membership by completing a proposal form which can be obtained from the Secretary. Either the proposer or seconder must be an officer of the Club or a member of the Committee. The completed form to be forwarded to the Secretary, who will place it before the Committee for their decision. Persons under the age of 14 may be admitted to the Club at the discretion of the Committee. No member under the age of 16* may have a vote or be a member of a committee. *Juveniles are members under 16 years of age. 10. Expulsion Any member guilty of objectionable conduct, or who fails to comply with the Rules of the Club, may, by a vote of the Committee, be asked to resign or expelled from the Club. The said member to be invited to attend the Committee meeting called for that purpose. 11. Alteration of Rules All alterations to Rules, or additional new Rules must be in writing, and must be in the hands of the Secretary by 31st December of each year, so that the due notices of these proposed changes may be submitted to each member at the same time as the notices for the Annual General Meeting. If any Extraordinary General Meeting is called for the same purpose, notices of proposed changes must be sent out with the notices convening the meeting. Seven days' notice of either meeting must be given. 12. Honorary Members The Committee shall have power to elect Honorary Members and Life Members at any time at their discretion for services rendered to the Club. 13. Disputes If anything arises which is not provided for by these Rules, or if there is any dispute, infringement, or complaint, in connection with the Club, the same shall be laid in writing, within fourteen days of the occurrence, before the Committee, who shall have full power to decide, and their decision shall be final. 14. Specimen Fish Specimen fish may be weighed in for Club prizes if caught at any time providing that in each case, any fish so weighed in must be caught under the conditions as laid down in Competion Rule 4. (click here for Competition Rules )Specimen fish are only eligible for the Club prizes if caught between Alice's Pipe and Beachy Head (East of Lighthouse). Specimen fish must be weighed in or vouched for by the Honorary Competition Secretary, or a member of the Committee. Anglers may have them weighed in at "The Anglers Den", provided that the Club scales are not available. Particulars of any fish so weighed in, together with a certificate signed by a Tradesman from "The Anglers Den", to be forwarded to the Honorary Secretary within three days. Dissolution Should the Club be dissolved at any time, an Extraordinary General Meeting shall be called to decide on the disposal of the Club assets. 16. Audit
The accounts of the Club shall be audited annually by two Club members, not officials or members of the committee. These auditors to be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting. 17. Insurance It is the duty of the Hon. Treasurer to pay insurance premiums when they are due. | |
